Ugg. Dreaded stomach flu. Your stomach knots up right under the diaphragm and you want to throw up but it is frustrating. You may have diarrhea, and just feel lousy. The symptoms vary because the virus causing your stomach flu varies.
You don’t have to listen to me but if you’ve trusted some of my other advice, listen up. The way to get rid of the common stomach flu is to simply sweat it out. I’ll get to how you do that in a minute.
One of the most important things to do when you have stomach flu is to remain hydrated. This doesn’t mean you drink your normal amount. This means you really hydrate. Move those bugs out. Don’t make yourself feel worse. Let your body tell you. Listen to it.
Now to sweating it out. You can do this successfully in the tub. But you’ll need help from the teapot. Take your teapot and fill it and throw a tea bag or two in there. Make it something you like to drink.
Then make the bath water as hot as you can stand. Before you slip in, make sure you take a bunch of water in the bathroom with you so you can stay hydrated as you sweat. I also use this to keep the tea water drinkable. If not, sometimes it’s too hot.
Take a magazine or book, or your netbook in there and watch a movie. You need to spend some time there. Sweat. That’s the idea.
What is happening is that you’re raising your body temperature so the bugs have a problem multiplying. So you slow ‘em down and feel awesome after the bath.
Make sure to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Just let the water go through you.
Remember, I am no doctor, nor play one on TV, and anything I say should not be construed as medical advice. It’s just my opinion and what has worked for me and many others.
