How to be Blessed by God
Wow. Deuteronomy 28 is one of the scariest chapters I’ve ever read in the Bible. Here God is speaking to the tribes of Israel about the simple process to get His blessing. It is simple, but as the Israelites found out, not so easy to do. However, let me interject that God even went so far as to help them do what it took, but they got lazy or tired and just wanted to do things their own way.
So the key to getting God’s blessing is – obedience. He tells us as a father figure what to do and we do everything we can to do it. Does it say we have to be perfect? Nope.
From what I’ve experienced, it’s when you stop trying to obey, fully knowing you are disobeying, and you continue doing what is wrong, He is not pleased and removes His blessing.
Read Deuteronomy 28. The first part is how God will bless you. The second part is how upset He gets when you disobey. Christ came and changed things with grace by dying on the cross. We don’t need additional grace to receive His favor, so He came to pay for our disobedience.
Still, God isn’t pleased when we disobey even now. Read Romans 1.
