God is so cool in all of creation. And no better place to see it than the Amazon. That’s where I grew up. Wow – life SO abundant there – and the “circle of life,” too! He has integrated many of His principles into the whole fabric of nature so we can…well…see His work and learn more about Him. Psalm 19:1-6. Hey, I talked about getting wisdom the other day – DON’T forget to look outdoors for some of His most vital lessons!
So, okay…the outdoors often came inside in our house on the Amazon river. And if you’ve ever had to deal with ants, you’ll catch onto this quickly. You look at those critters and wisdom is probably the furthest thing from your mind. I think of the word, “determination!” But to someone who is lazy, God points out these tiny guys as an example of “wise living.”
Well, come to think of it, if we took on their characteristics, it wouldn’t be a bad thing:
So see…hanging around righteous men isn’t the only way to get wisdom. God also tells us to take a look at the lowly ant that He created to work in community.
Ah, yes… so much to learn from the created world. He tells us to look at the birds and to stop stressing out whether He will take care of us or not. Matthew 6:26. Birds don’t worry about where their next meal is going to come from. They go out and get it – and God takes care of them.
Like I mentioned in my post on wisdom, keep it grounded in Scripture and just pray and ask for it. Thank God for it. But don’t be blind to the things right outside your door in nature. Tons of lessons there. And ask God to give you eyes to see. Mark 8:18. When you see a chance to gain wisdom – do it.
And this leads me to my title above. The main reason why ants are so successful is because they treat their mission as a business, not as a hobby. Start treating that thing in your life that you want success from as a business – go at it as an ant would! (Read the list above.) You can do it. Start now.
