Should We Eat Meat?

I’m confused. Not really. But many people I hang out with are. I do eat meat, the kind that comes from cattle, but not everyday. In fact, probably once a month. Today I ate a bit of turkey – the sliced deli kind, in a wrap. But normally I’m a vegetarian.

The reason I ask the question about eating meat is because some say that the Bible says we “can” or that they “did in the Bible” so it’s OK, in fact, “Biblical.”

Why wouldn’t I eat meat?

I’m not paranoid, and I don’t stress out over this. But l noticed that eating red meat increases my chance of activating cancer. And I don’t want to do that. Yes, it tastes great right off the grill, but I think it’s hard on our system.

And what does “activating cancer” mean, anyway?

This is a new thinking I learned last week and I want to share it with you. It’s a concept that we all have cancer cells and we go through life exposing our earthly bodies to things that may trigger these existent cancer cells and make them begin to flourish. Why invite trouble, right?

If there’s a connection between red meat and getting cancer, even if the Bible says it’s fine, why eat it?

Porterhouse SteakAnother thought I have is that the beef in Bible times can’t be compared to the beef we eat today. I’m not sure of it, but the way beef is industrialized to feed millions with hamburgers, I’m fairly sure it is loaded with things they never knew about in the Bible. So maybe the meat they refer to in the Bible doesn’t even exist today.

And maybe meat meant food.

What are your thoughts? I don’t think we should eat a lot of meat. And I abide by that thinking. But every month or so we will buy some steaks at Costco or Whole Foods and grill them up.

The way we’re headed with our raw food diet, those days are probably numbered as well. It’s a good thing because we’re teaching people how to eat better and how to use food to heal their health challenges. I’ve seen some good improvement in my hyperthyroid and celiac. And I am confident a totally raw diet of the right foods could help just about any disease.

Given the right things, the body can do an amazing job of healing itself.

Write me your thoughts in the comments area.

N. Y. Jets Not Mentally Tough

It was a fun Sunday. Lots of football. We even broke out the organic corn chips (Costco) and Malbec (Whole Foods). Dennis had a supply of these incredible almonds from Starbucks. But even as we were set to watch a good challenge, someone was going to lose.

Can all disease be cured? Wow, Dave… you jump around subjects, no? Ha, well…there are those that think all disease can be cured by both mental and diet. Likewise, there are those in the school of thought that football is all a mental game. Forget that there are the dynamics of genetics for diseases, and the whole physicality behind playing football.

If it can’t be cured, using mental powers can come awfully close. With football, it’s almost the same. If your head is in the right place, everything falls into place. Granted, both teams have to be physically identical.

So did the losers of the championship games we watched yesterday the victims of bad thinking?

Yes. And NFL teams spend time conditioning the mind as well as the body. But that’s the fun of the whole thing. Dennis said that soon those players on the screen would be droids. Then it would boil down to strategy. Or would thought play a huge part in it as it does today.

In other words, even droid operators have a mind which can be swayed by thinking.

And if this is such a big part of winning and losing, don’t you think it should be studied in your life, for your benefit? I thought as much for me, and am going through a program by Bob Proctor called the Success Puzzle. Six CD’s and a workbook mainly about what you spend your time thinking about.

I’m just starting it, so I’ll let you know how it goes. Right now I am reviewing my worthy ideal. Pretty cool name, right? Worthy ideal.

OK, let me know what you think about the importance the mind plays in our lives. Talk soon. Dave

Which Protein Powder is Best?

Dave and Jarrow Protein shakeYou may not agree, but I believe everyone should be consuming protein in a shake form. And just recently I found I wasn’t ingesting enough of the stuff. For years I’ve been taught you can get enough proteins from veggies, and you probably can – but you’re not going to.

What I mean by that is you are not going to eat the quantity of veggies necessary to get the amount of protein you should be eating. You should be getting 1.25 grams x your body weight in pounds. So, for me, for example – today I am at 184 pounds – then multiply 184 x 1.25 and you get 230. That means I need at least 230 grams of protein a day.

How many grams of protein are in that shake you drink? You don’t drink one?

You should. Think of it. When you supplement with the right amount of protein, your body then actually has the stuff it needs to do what it needs to do.

Remember that protein comes from all kinds of stuff. One is chicken – a typical chicken breast is 45 grams. And other foods are loaded as well.  But a powder shake is an easy and great way to get what you need.

Why?

Because scientifically formulated for years now, protein powders have been found to be easily assimilated into the bloodstream and used efficiently.

Nutrition Label for ProteinAnd my study into them tells me that a whey protein isolate delivers more and better than a concentrate.  Gram for gram, isolate processing yeilds more.  Research has found that only whey proteins in their natural, undenatured state have the ability to perform their characteristic biological functions.  Look for a brand that is processed under low temperature and low acidic conditions – isolate!

Costco has a great choice for around $22 and each scoop is 20 grams of whey protein isolate, no fat!  In addition, I chose a brand named Jarrow from Whole Foods that was down-right tasty and is good for the whole family.

Whatever you do, I suggest you try a whey protein isolate shake to supplement your diet.  And let me know how you feel afterwords!  It’s a great way to get the protein you need to have your body do what it needs to do.

Have you ever done an exercise like this?

We were in one of my very favorite places here in Naples, Florida – the local Costco and after having made a run of the dozens of samples around the store, we got in line to check out with the things we were going to purchase.  Normal line, smiling faces.  That is… until the gal making purchases ahead stopped to find some coupons.

This went on for a minute or so and we simply break into chat when in line, or text, or something productive.  I mean, ya can’t go anywhere – but the fellow ahead of us couldn’t take it anymore.  He turned around and professed, “This happens to me every time I get in line!”

And I couldn’t hold it either – well, almost.  I just wrapped up a brand new study on the Law of Attraction and this was so much fuel for my fire.  I smiled and started to say – “Yes!  That’s because you say that!”

My words trailed off and Adriana poked me, but I wanted him to hear what he was saying.

OK, don’t most of us hear what we are saying?

NO!  Well, we “hear” it, but we don’t understand it.  If we really did, we’d stop saying it.  You know that words, the words we think and say are SO powerful.  I didn’t know how powerful they were – I mean, I’ve written to you many times before on how critical it is to choose your words.  But there are some scientific studies that I researched and have found dramatic information.

What I want you to do today after reading this is to try your hardest to just listen to what you are saying – to others.  And what you are thinking for yourself.  If you have kids, this is a real eye-opener.  But even if you don’t – you’ll catch yourself being negative without even knowing it.

Have you ever done an exercise like this?

Instead of saying, “Don’t put that glass there or it will fall off the counter!”  Say, “Put the glass in the middle of the counter so it will be safe.”

See the difference?

OK.  Try it.  It is HARD!

(Oops!  Shouldn’t have said that!)

I have discovered some GREAT ways for you to change your talk and attract the things in your life that you need and want.   And I’ll share that with you, soon.

Talk later,
Dave
